Mackay Marine Surveyors

You can rely on our comprehensive, detailed approach to marine surveying. We survey, fiberglass, steel, and aluminium yachts both power and sail. As a marine surveyor and consultants, we are well equipped with the latest types of instruments i.e. Cygnus 4 (for steel hull vessels) and Sovereign Quantum Moisture meter for FRP. We use up to date technology and are well experienced in performing steel or aluminium hull ultra-sonic sounding, and the use of various dye penetrants for detection of cracks and corrosion. We undertake engine RPM testing, including engine oil analysis.

During the survey we follow the YDSA Code of Practice and utilise comprehensive checklist(s). The checklist is designed for the type of survey to be carried out, i.e. Pre-Purchase, Insurance, Hull surveys, etc. By using a checklist, this ensures that no parts of the vessel are overlooked.

For places that can't easily be seen and, difficult to access e.g. keel bolts that are hardly accessible, we use a flex-boroscope inspection camera.

Where possible we make it a point of investigating all the past history of a vessel, for client's assurance before making a purchase.

As an independent surveying company, Mackay Marine Surveyors is here to represent you (the client), and report all findings in a clear, professional and timely manner and provide you with valid, objectives, without prejudice conclusions.

We have no financial interest in a survey and not hesitant to reveal any un-favourable facts or defects about a vessel. Since we operate as an 'independent' company, we can report on a vessel without fear of a monetary loss or retribution.
